The Return of the Space Cowboy

The Return of the Space Cowboy 1

Inter-planetary good vibe zone… Somehow I seem to find a pattern in my blog posts about the Fantasy Faire 2013 because I find a lot of stuff I would usually not expect from a fair like this. Like this – hm – space suit. Or intergalactic stormtrooper outfit. Well it definitely has something Star Wars-ish as you can tell. Might be the white plastic armory or the futuristic cut. Definitely a unique piece of clothing again.

The Return of the Space Cowboy 2

The thing that puzzeled me first was indeed the unusual cut of the top – with one arm down and the other one up ending in a face shield like of thing. Interesting for sure and definitely a futuristic design. The subtile plastic texturing of the armory parts supports the overall look definitely. The fabric parts have a woolen texturing and are available at the booth of 22769 ~ casual couture in 4 bold colors: purple, red, blue and green. The pants and the jacket can be purchased seperately.

If you are looking for cute winter and christmas things in secondlife obviously now is the right time. Creators have again outdone themselfes this year to bring some really fine products for your avatar and for your homes to the grid. And there are many places where you can get that certain x-mas-feeling – even for a bargain. So since the month is a few days old your first stop definitely should be the Mens Dept. I got myself – again – new eyes there. This time from Poetic Colors who also offer a selection of winter colored eyes. Today I am wearing the icicle ones. The nordic jumper I am wearing is from bleak – it is available in different styles and as you can see in the pictures it looks way real.

Noel 2

Another brilliant find in the December Mens Dept. is the rather taxidermic Antler Christmas Tree from Cheeky Pea. It definitely is outstanding and lovely made and way special. Also the carton box deer head over the chimney is from the Mens Dept. and comes from [HANDverk] (available in two different styles). I have to say that I cheated a bit by adding the festive bow from the “12 Days of Christmas” Calendar from Trompe Loeil underneath it. And to sum the Mens Dept. up: todays house is also from the Mens Dept. and comes from Deco. The Port Richmond Skyloft has an unbeatable quality and gives you enough room for decorating and furnishing. And the denims are the item from [AB]

If you are looking for christmas or winter stuff the “Relay For Life Christmas Expo” is definitely worth a visit. Not only the fairground is lovely build but you also can find some wonderful stuff there also. I got myself the “Festive Chandelier” from Hanaya which is way cute. You can change the color of the ornaments by mouseclick – also it has three different light functions. The silverish wreath is again a gift from the “12 Days of Christmas” Calendar and so is the Noel Blocks at the chimney. Nearly everything else I used comes from the adorable Christmas Calendar from BoatHouse and I really have to say that the Fireplace Tools are my favorite kind of decorative pieces because it is lovely made and just gives the certain extra to the sl homes with fireplace (and we all know – there are a lot of them).

Winter Morning

Winter Morning 1

Autumn and especially winter are the best seasons for decoration within secondlife. Creators release one adorable item after another and makes even me wanting to own a sim. On the other hand I guess I would constantly decorate and alter it and would have no time anymore for blogging… Anyways – here we go: a new hunt is coming to the grid, organised by CHIC. And that alone should set you in instant exitement because you know what you can expect from a CHIC event. Top stores, wonderful gifts and a way brilliant organised hunt. This one is called “With Love <3″ and the gifts are wonderful. It is a great pleasure for me to show you some of the male gifts and also some decoration and furniture pieces you can get in this hunt.

The jumper, scarf and mittens is the gift from [ SAKIDE ] and I really love the casual and realistic look of the items. This indeed is something you could find in my RL wardrobe also. The jumper and the mittens are rigged (and can be worn seperate also) and the scarf contains a resizer. Definitely a keeper. The painter pants are from [Sheep Door] and the boots are from Adjunkt. Please note that the With Love <3 Hunt is a 10 L$ Hunt – but the items are definitely worth it.

Winter Morning 2

I already gave you some decoration ideas for your parcel/sim in my post “Cozy” and I promised there that I will give you a better look on the fabulous new mesh winter trees from Garden Of Dreams. Well here they are. Indeed all plants are from GOD which I love to use since they are copy and you can fill your sim easy with a very attractive winter look. The “Chill Grove Tree” Set from GOD contains 3 different types of trees that come in three sizes, but also in two different appearances: there is one version with branches and a “dead” version without branches at all. So that is a hell of a set! Like said the trees are mesh – and therefor the landimpact is a thing you have to deal with. One tree has a landimpact of 18 but on the other hand the trees rez much faster then the usual sculpted ones. And in my opinion they also look much better. So with trees I recommend to mix sculpted trees with mesh trees as accent.

These adorable benches in my little park come from estatica – a shop I got to know via the Silverlining Hunt. The Musgrove Benches come in a rounded version (around the tree) and in a straight version. And also – of course – in a fatpack with both. Each bench holds 47 animation/animated poses for male and female avatars and for couples. This is the perfect item to decorate your sim or home because not only that the benches are extremely well done – they are also copy and each bench has just 1 LI! And even if I used it on my winter set – they look also good in all kind of seasons sims.

The cute lanterns are from Trompe Loeil. They are available in 2 available color/material options. And each package contains a version with the Handle up or down. Also the lanterns have 1 LI and they are also copy – so this is also the perfect decoration item for your virtual home. The light is owner driven only and the texturing – like with all Trompe Loeil produkts – is absolutely flawless.

First I have to warn you: this is going to be a long post with a lot of pictures. But I hope you find it somewhat useful. I came to the idea with this post after my friends, who generously allow me to build my sets on their sim, have been looking for some decorative winter and christmas stuff. And well – since the winter season is about to begin in second life and I received some questions also where to buy what for decorating the house, store or sim I thought it would be easier to make a blogpost about it.
The pictures have been taken in the adorable Noelle Chalet from Scarlet Creative. I found the prefab on the marketplace and you can get it there for the steal of 200 L$. Not only that the house is extremely lovely textured and done – it also comes with a basic set of furniture all inclusive. For a SL single like me it is the perfect winter house that already sets you in the right pre-x-mas-mood. The next thing I strongly recommend are two hunts going on right now: The Great Outdoor Hunt and the Silverlining Hunt. Both hunts are not free – the Great Outdoor Hunt charges 45 L$ per huntitem and the Silverlining Hunt 5L$ – but it is definitely worth it! My computer in above picture is the Silverlining Huntprice from SFW Industries and the console and the picture frame is the Bertram Set from estatica from the same hunt. The frame comes blank – you can put your own image in it like I did.

Cozy 2

If you are looking for themed furniture and decoration one of my first adresses is LISP Bazaar. LISP have many offers on the marketplace and also a huge amount of highly decorative items for a budget price. I got myself the Winter Room Whole Set in a Box that contains so much adorable stuff like the x-mas stockings on my chimney and the cute Snowflake Tag Chair. The Log Basket with Axe just matches perfectly the DIGS Huntgift for the Great Outdoor Hunt: the Nature’s Way Log Store.
The Silver Kitchen Shelf comes from Pestique Furniture and is their share for the Silverlining Hunt. And the Artwork above the chimney is from Felipe Bedoya and is called Dios. You can get it for free at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

List of stuff:
Dinnertable and Chairs: Scarlet Creative – Adler Dining Table (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Computer: SFW Industries - Flatscreen Monitor and Keyboard (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Console and Pictureframe: estatica – Bertram Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Chair: LISP Bazaar – Snowflake Tag Chair

If you decorate for winter or even for christmas obviously it is all about the light. And this is kind of a tricky issue in second life to be honest. Lamps often can be way too bright and even art often comes with a own lighting, that radiates way too much. Most of the times the items you purchase are mod – and it is a good idea, for a special cozy look and feel, to lower the brightness or even the light radiation by yourself.

Cozy 4

I love to mix and match vintage furniture with rather modern pieces. I had a discussion with a friend a few days ago about this. And the true and simple fact is: nothing gives a room or a house more personality then a healthy mixture of styles. Because we all are not living in a furniture catalogue in RL also, right? We all have pieces with history like a rug or a sofa or even a bed and buy eventually some new stuff to mix and match it with what we already have. If you are going for a comfi look of your home in SL I only can suggest that you keep that in mind. If you buy everything new and all at once you maybe archive a nice look, but it appears cold. At least that is the experience I made with decorating SL homes.

I kept that in mind when I created my two comfort zones. In the upper part of the picture I combined the Anna Sofa from LISP with the weekend lounge from BoatHouse. The drapes, the lamp and the String Lights in the window are also from LISP. And the side table is from the Haarlem Deco Set from POST.
The lower part of the picture has the two ball chairs that come with the purchase of the Noelle Chalet. The supercute fireplace is the Silverlining Huntgift from L&K Prefabs. The coffee table and also the gingerbread on it with the hot chocolate are again from LISP.
Again I want to point you also to the Gallery Gift Shop, my favorite shopping event within second life. You can not get somewhere else state of the art artworks for your walls. Of course the Gallery Gift Shop is not only about art but also about fashion and accessory and many things more – but when it comes to decorating you just must at least have a look there.

List of stuff:
Lighttree: ICONIC – Light Tree
Artwork (on floor): Chiana Oh – AM Radio’s Train (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Sofa left: BoatHouse – Weekend Lounge
Sofa right: LISP Bazaar –Anna Sofa (with texture changer)

Trompe Loeil just released a huge set of holiday decorations and they are in one word adorable. I already told you that I love these stars Cory Edo made as lamps. Now they are also available as ground floor decoration and I can assure you that no home within SL will have them not lying around in one corner at christmas. They are fantastic! Trompe Loeil also made this decorative sleigh in many different colors and it is just way cute.

Another cute find is the “Starry Night” Deco set from [CIRCA] which is indeed again a huntgift in the Silverlining Hunt. And you get so much in this one. The mirror, the side table and the silver tree. And now it shows that the theme of the monochrome silverlining hunt is perfect for the season – because it just can not get more winterish then that. The propped up wall sled is again a find at LISP – and again: check the marketplace-store of LISP for higly decorative holiday things!

List of stuff:
Sideboard: LISP Bazaar –Snowfrost Heart Console (decoration also comes from LISP)
Sleigh: Trompe Loeil – Decorative Sleigh White
Stars: Trompe Loeil – Star Duo Ground Silver/White
Side Table, Mirror and Silver Tree: CIRCA – “Starry Night” Deco Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Wall Sled: LISP Bazaar –Propped Up Wall Sled with scarf

Cozy 6

The bedroom is more or less the interior that came with the Noelle Chalet. However – I brought some personal touch in it with the supernerdy Space Invaders Wall Art from BRENO. I love retro and obviously I love computer games (otherwise I would not spend ages to write blogposts about a virtual enviroment) and the wall art is just so me. On the wall you can see the Casting Dresser from DIGS. And like the Wall Art it is also a gift in the Silverlining Hunt. So I guess you get a picture now, why you must do this hunt, when you want to decorate your home in winter style.

Decorating a home is one thing. Decorating a sim is a complete different story. Most trees and plants come no copy which is understandable from the creators point of view. Nevertheless – if you have a whole sim or parcel to decorate you can literally spend a fortune on plants and rocks and neat outdoor stuff. No doubt: it IS expensive. If you read my blogposts for some time you know that I am a fanboy of Garden Of Dreams since the creator Kayle Matzerath is putting so much love for detail in them. Another point is: the dreamscenes (and also the permanent skyboxes that come with every dreamscene) are copy and mod. For this post I took the Winter Cabin Dreamscene and took all plants, gras, rocks and mountains out of it to decorate the surrounding of the chalet. I will be honest: I did not decorate on the ground but on a 60×60 meter prim. But what works high up in the air works on the ground also. And if you want to decorate a parcel or a sim you should check out the dreamscenes from GOD since you will safe money on the long run. Garden Of Dreams just released also some mesh trees. You can see a few in the pictures below, but I will make a proper post about them soon. And while we are talking about it: GOD also has currently a christmas sale with winter/Christmas stuff. So there are many reasons to check the store out.

Just got up

Just Got Up 1

I love autumn and I guess everyone does. Indian summer, the typical autumn food – all that kind of things. However – I strongly dislike getting out of bed especially in autumn. When it is kind of chilly in the room because you have not turned on your radiator yet and you bed is just snuggly warm.

One thing I would love to own in RL is this adorable Cupboard Bed because it is literally like a sleeping cave. And I love caves – especially if they are snuggly warm. The Morning Light Cupboard Bed comes from Trompe Loeil and is their item for the new fair FAIR. You can choose between many patterns and woods and of course also between x-rated and PG poses. I absolutely adore the paisleys patterns on the cushions. And by the way – the bed matches perfectly the Baroque Bench from the Arcade Gatcha Festival that also comes from Trompe Loeil.

Noticed the cute bag hanging on the bench? It comes from .evolve. and the package containes a rigged and unrigged version which I find quite clever. Also it is a lovely messenger like bag and a neat accessory also. .evolve. recently moved to a new sim – so please update your landmarks. My outfit today comes from a fairly new store called [NoWay]. [NW] has some very casual mesh pieces for men like these denims and also the striped dress shirt. You definitely should check this store out. And my boots come from Adjunct. I got them earlier in the 49L$ Sale for Dudes – but they are still available in the Adjunct store.

Now i will leave you with the detailed credits for todays blogpost while I snuggle back in my bed.
