Advent Calendars

Advent Calendars 1

Happy weekend and happy December also. The craziest season within secondlife is starting now – and many shops have Advent Calendars for you to give you some fabulous gifts. Of course I can not keep track on all of those – but I will show you some that I really like. Since it is getting colder outside SL merchants provide you with great hats and caps. And the “Team Naughty” Knitcap is just the first Advent Calendar gift to showcase. Like every year 22769 ~ casual couture have put up a huge christmas tree in their store with a lot of giftboxes around it. Each giftbox holds a number – and today, December 1st, you receive the “Team Naughty” and the “Team Nice” Knithat. But you only can get it today and also just once – so better be careful when you tap the box with the “1″.

The jumper is the huntgift from [ iren ] for the “With Love <3″ Hunt. There is a female gift also. The jumper is mesh in male standard sizing and comes with two different alpha layers. I love how the jumper has folds and wrinkles and I especially like the color.

Advent Calendars 2

Right after my last decoration post “Cozy” I received a few IM’s from friends about where to find cute winterish cottages and houses. And now the good news: todays Winter Cabin is indeed the gift for December 1st at BoatHouse. The Advent Calendar is group only – and there is a 250 L$ fee to join the group. But first of all it is extremely hard to find such a nice and wonderful made house for that price and second this is the FIRST gift of 23 more to come. And while you are at BoatHouse there is a Cookie Jar Sale going on where you can find several items for just 70 L$. The items are all trans – so you can even gift them so someone.

The sofa I am sitting on is the gift from Cheeky Pea for the “With Love <3″ Hunt. It has neat single and couple animations and also fits perfectly in the winterish season. And also the kitchen table with chairs (above right) is a gift from the same hunt. It comes from floorplan. While we are talking about hunts (and there are also a lot of them running right now) – the frames on the shelf (above left) are from the “Home For Christmas Hunt” and are from SFW. You can put your own pictures in it. And also the cute christmas tree wall decor is a gift from the Home For Christmas Hunt – and it is from BoatHouse. And the coffee table in front of the couch is the gift from PRIME for the hunt. It comes with a few more things also that are not shown here.

Back to the “With Love <3″ Hunt. These Lamps in my window come from [Apple Fall] – and they are copy. Like everything from Apple Fall they are wonderful made.

If you do not want to make hunts then gatcha is maybe your thing: The Arcade Gatcha Festival started with the second round and Trompe Loeil offer the “12 Days Of Christmas” Advent Calendar. It is the shelf above the Cheeky Pea Couch (below left). You get this calendar for free at the Arcade Gatcha Festival – and you can play for the keys (25 L$ each). Each key openes a door and is giving you a gift from the calendar. It is just such a cute idea. Trompe Loeil are also at FAIR where you can find the “Curio Table” next to the sofa. And to make 3 full – Trompe is of course also at the December Round of FaMESHed and offer this cute Cabinet Bed. You can change textures and also close and open the side window shutters.

First I have to warn you: this is going to be a long post with a lot of pictures. But I hope you find it somewhat useful. I came to the idea with this post after my friends, who generously allow me to build my sets on their sim, have been looking for some decorative winter and christmas stuff. And well – since the winter season is about to begin in second life and I received some questions also where to buy what for decorating the house, store or sim I thought it would be easier to make a blogpost about it.
The pictures have been taken in the adorable Noelle Chalet from Scarlet Creative. I found the prefab on the marketplace and you can get it there for the steal of 200 L$. Not only that the house is extremely lovely textured and done – it also comes with a basic set of furniture all inclusive. For a SL single like me it is the perfect winter house that already sets you in the right pre-x-mas-mood. The next thing I strongly recommend are two hunts going on right now: The Great Outdoor Hunt and the Silverlining Hunt. Both hunts are not free – the Great Outdoor Hunt charges 45 L$ per huntitem and the Silverlining Hunt 5L$ – but it is definitely worth it! My computer in above picture is the Silverlining Huntprice from SFW Industries and the console and the picture frame is the Bertram Set from estatica from the same hunt. The frame comes blank – you can put your own image in it like I did.

If you are looking for themed furniture and decoration one of my first adresses is LISP Bazaar. LISP have many offers on the marketplace and also a huge amount of highly decorative items for a budget price. I got myself the Winter Room Whole Set in a Box that contains so much adorable stuff like the x-mas stockings on my chimney and the cute Snowflake Tag Chair. The Log Basket with Axe just matches perfectly the DIGS Huntgift for the Great Outdoor Hunt: the Nature’s Way Log Store.
The Silver Kitchen Shelf comes from Pestique Furniture and is their share for the Silverlining Hunt. And the Artwork above the chimney is from Felipe Bedoya and is called Dios. You can get it for free at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

List of stuff:
Dinnertable and Chairs: Scarlet Creative – Adler Dining Table (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Computer: SFW Industries - Flatscreen Monitor and Keyboard (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Console and Pictureframe: estatica – Bertram Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Chair: LISP Bazaar – Snowflake Tag Chair
X-Mas Stockings: LISP Bazaar – Stockings Blue
Log Store: DIGS – Nature’s Way Mini Set (The RLM Great Outdoor Hunt)
Log Basket: LISP Bazaar –Burlap Bag of Logs
Shelf: Pestique Furniture – Kitchen Shelf Silver (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Art: LND Gallery and Hangout – Felipe Bedoya: Dios (free)

If you decorate for winter or even for christmas obviously it is all about the light. And this is kind of a tricky issue in second life to be honest. Lamps often can be way too bright and even art often comes with a own lighting, that radiates way too much. Most of the times the items you purchase are mod – and it is a good idea, for a special cozy look and feel, to lower the brightness or even the light radiation by yourself.

Cozy 4

I love to mix and match vintage furniture with rather modern pieces. I had a discussion with a friend a few days ago about this. And the true and simple fact is: nothing gives a room or a house more personality then a healthy mixture of styles. Because we all are not living in a furniture catalogue in RL also, right? We all have pieces with history like a rug or a sofa or even a bed and buy eventually some new stuff to mix and match it with what we already have. If you are going for a comfi look of your home in SL I only can suggest that you keep that in mind. If you buy everything new and all at once you maybe archive a nice look, but it appears cold. At least that is the experience I made with decorating SL homes.

I kept that in mind when I created my two comfort zones. In the upper part of the picture I combined the Anna Sofa from LISP with the weekend lounge from BoatHouse. The drapes, the lamp and the String Lights in the window are also from LISP. And the side table is from the Haarlem Deco Set from POST.
The lower part of the picture has the two ball chairs that come with the purchase of the Noelle Chalet. The supercute fireplace is the Silverlining Huntgift from L&K Prefabs. The coffee table and also the gingerbread on it with the hot chocolate are again from LISP.
Again I want to point you also to the Gallery Gift Shop, my favorite shopping event within second life. You can not get somewhere else state of the art artworks for your walls. Of course the Gallery Gift Shop is not only about art but also about fashion and accessory and many things more – but when it comes to decorating you just must at least have a look there.

List of stuff:
Lighttree: ICONIC – Light Tree
Artwork (on floor): Chiana Oh – AM Radio’s Train (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Sofa left: BoatHouse – Weekend Lounge
Sofa right: LISP Bazaar –Anna Sofa (with texture changer)
Sidetable: POST – Haarlem Deco Coffee Table

Coffee Table: LISP Bazaar –Tile Coffee Table White

Trompe Loeil just released a huge set of holiday decorations and they are in one word adorable. I already told you that I love these stars Cory Edo made as lamps. Now they are also available as ground floor decoration and I can assure you that no home within SL will have them not lying around in one corner at christmas. They are fantastic! Trompe Loeil also made this decorative sleigh in many different colors and it is just way cute.

Another cute find is the “Starry Night” Deco set from [CIRCA] which is indeed again a huntgift in the Silverlining Hunt. And you get so much in this one. The mirror, the side table and the silver tree. And now it shows that the theme of the monochrome silverlining hunt is perfect for the season – because it just can not get more winterish then that. The propped up wall sled is again a find at LISP – and again: check the marketplace-store of LISP for higly decorative holiday things!

List of stuff:
Sideboard: LISP Bazaar –Snowfrost Heart Console (decoration also comes from LISP)
Sleigh: Trompe Loeil – Decorative Sleigh White
Stars: Trompe Loeil – Star Duo Ground Silver/White
Side Table, Mirror and Silver Tree: CIRCA – “Starry Night” Deco Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Wall Sled: LISP Bazaar –Propped Up Wall Sled with scarf

Cozy 6

The bedroom is more or less the interior that came with the Noelle Chalet. However – I brought some personal touch in it with the supernerdy Space Invaders Wall Art from BRENO. I love retro and obviously I love computer games (otherwise I would not spend ages to write blogposts about a virtual enviroment) and the wall art is just so me. On the wall you can see the Casting Dresser from DIGS. And like the Wall Art it is also a gift in the Silverlining Hunt. So I guess you get a picture now, why you must do this hunt, when you want to decorate your home in winter style.

Decorating a home is one thing. Decorating a sim is a complete different story. Most trees and plants come no copy which is understandable from the creators point of view. Nevertheless – if you have a whole sim or parcel to decorate you can literally spend a fortune on plants and rocks and neat outdoor stuff. No doubt: it IS expensive. If you read my blogposts for some time you know that I am a fanboy of Garden Of Dreams since the creator Kayle Matzerath is putting so much love for detail in them. Another point is: the dreamscenes (and also the permanent skyboxes that come with every dreamscene) are copy and mod. For this post I took the Winter Cabin Dreamscene and took all plants, gras, rocks and mountains out of it to decorate the surrounding of the chalet. I will be honest: I did not decorate on the ground but on a 60×60 meter prim. But what works high up in the air works on the ground also. And if you want to decorate a parcel or a sim you should check out the dreamscenes from GOD since you will safe money on the long run. Garden Of Dreams just released also some mesh trees. You can see a few in the pictures below, but I will make a proper post about them soon. And while we are talking about it: GOD also has currently a christmas sale with winter/Christmas stuff. So there are many reasons to check the store out.

Mendoza

Mendoza 1

Life is unfair – especially secondlife: here am I trying to catch up on all the events happening right now within SL – and new ones are already starting. So this is definitely a mix and match post. Nevertheless – the merchants within SL make it easy these days to keep you entertained and also to find neat stuff for your avatar, home and garden. So let’s start again with the Around The World Fair and with another region: South America. Trompe Loeil, who are also sponsoring the event, made this adorable Mendoza bed and I especially love the textures on the cushions and the blanket. The textures also can become changed by mouseclick – you can choose between three Argentinian patterns and two neutral versions also – so the bed matches definitely every room. And like always – there is a mass of animations and animated poses included.

Yesterday The Great Outdoor Hunt by the Royal Living Magazine has started and I got myself the “Natures Way Mini Set” by DIGS containing the log store and the stool. There is even a lamp and also a rug in the huntgift that are not shown here. Finally again a furniture hunt and I can only encourage you to do this one because – as you can see on the Royal Living Magazine Website – the gifts are adorable. Each gift is 45 L$ and some of them are kind of hard hidden also. The only downer with this hunt is, that there seem to be no hints provided. So you need a good eye and a little bit of luck for this one.

For the art, and you know that I have a thing for SL art: again these are artworks you can find at The Gallery Gift Shop. Still one of my first stops when I decorate a space or a house because you can find so much adorable stuff there for not too much money.

Todays outfit comes straight from the Mens Dept. I already told you that <HVK> have some adorable cardigans in the Mens Dept. Finally it is time to show them. The Pilot Cardigan is available in black, grey, navy and, shown here, khaki. You definitely should check the demo first on this one because it comes only in two sizes. Nevertheless: the purchase also includes a shirt for the cardigan that is not shown here. The green skater pants are from 22769 ~ casual couture and is also one of the finds in the Mens Dept.

Aztec Weekend

Aztec Weekend 1

Welcome to the well deserved weekend. Since I am rather lazy on the weekends I decided to make a more comfi blog post. Todays main actor is the Replica Prefab from { ililo } that can be found at the current Mens Dept. The building is a cottage like small house with lovely texturing. I especially adore the floor tiling. { ililo } not only has the prefab in the Mens Dept. but also the Ind. Lamp and the Farmhouse Table (displayed in picture 2).

My todays outfit also comes from the Mens Dept. The Painter Pants are from [Sheep Door] and the fleece jacket is the Aztec Jacket from {.essences.}. The jacket is available in 5 different styles and it is rigged mesh in male standard sizing.

The sofa is a special edition from LISP BAZAAR and the artwork comes from Emma Hack and is available at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

Aztec Weekend 2

I really love the Farmhouse Table from { ililo }. The texturing is flawless and it is again a piece of furniture that looks just way real. The wooden chairs come from Warbug Headquarters and they match just perfectly the overall country home style. I strongly recommend to visit Warbug Headquarters anyways because there is many stuff to explore there and second the items are definitely not overpriced. floorplan have two wonderful and quirky items to offer in the Mens Dept. First of all the photo hanger in the background. You can add your own pictures to it and it is just that decoration piece that gives individualism to your virtual home. The second item is the “honest abe lamp” and it is… a Top Hat. The funny thing about the lamp is, that there is indeed the lamp in the package, but also a top hat you can wear (or place as decoration like I did). The second hat is from the currently running Runway Perfect Hunt and comes from Xen’s Hats. Finally the dishes are from BoatHouse – one of my favorite shops when it comes to decoration and country style furniture.

October is the month of Halloween – and Halloween marks the start of the huge celebrated holidays within second life. And of course the current Mens Dept. has also some Halloween-ish items: BALACLAVA!! has the supercreepy twins as offer at the venue. Both are mesh with a LI of 10 (each) so it is not too heavy for a decoration piece.

Aztec Weekend 3

Fishermans Friend

Fishermans Friend 1

Today the Mens Dept. finally opens – and it is time for me to show you some more of the awesomeness that awaits you at the number one spot for contemporary male fashion and items within second life. Poetic Colors are one of the shops that provide round for round high quality eyes at the venue. This time they choose “Autumn” as theme for the new collection of eyes – and as always they are wonderfully done. Also you get a huge variety of each eye color in every pack. Of course the system eyes, but also a lot of mesh eyes with many options like brightness and size of the eye texture. The eyes can be of course also become resized by mouseclick. Shown above is the greenish “october rain” mesh eyes.

I was very happy to see that also KOSH joined the Mens Department again. KOSH offer a necklace and a matching bracelet called “Copec” and first of all it looks wonderful and second you really can get it for a steal at the Mens Dept. The necklace and the bracelet are available in three different styles: antique (shown above), old and silver.

My t-shirt is a gift from the subscriber group of FATEwear – I found it this morning in my inventory. And my pants are the Painter Pants from [Sheep Door] in beige, again available at the Mens Dept.

Fishermans Friend 2

Another thing I simply adore about the Mens Dept. is that you not only get great and high quality fashion at the venue, but also furniture and homes especially designed for men. Todays blogpost was taken in the brilliant Fishtown Skyloft from DECO. The skyloft has 66 prims and is mod – so you can alter the room divider like I did to match it to your furniture. The skyloft has one huge windowfront and a second one with smaller windows. Plus the loft has a garage-door that leads you to a little balcony.

The trunks come from :::LITHIUM::: and are first of all a great decoration item but also have 6 sitting animations (3 male and 3 female). And of course you also can find the trunks at the Mens Dept.

The art in the background is from the LND Gallery and Hangout I blogged about two days ago. The portraits are from Chuck Close and prove that art can be man-ly also. The sofa I am sitting on comes from ~BAZAR~ and it has this brilliant marketplace-browsing animation included (with notebook included). There are also of course relaxing poses and a reading pose with book.

Talking about furniture – you can find great pieces for not so much money or even for free, when you know where to look. Many furniture stores have special marketplace deals or offer gifts and group gifts in their stores. The decor vases (3rd picture right) are in the same set from ~BAZAR~ like the sofa and all together it is a gift you can find in the store. And even more: The breakfast table with chair (3rd picture left) with rezable breakfast is again a gift from the same store. The wooden screen is from *TDS* and if you are looking for things to spice up your virtual homes I strongly recommend to visit the store since they offer well done furniture and decor pieces for a snip.
