California Morning

California Morning 1Good Sunday everyone. And first of all an excuse to all our readers and of course also to the creators for not blogging that much in the last few weeks. It is funny – our blog became one year old now and yet I faced something like a blogging blocade. If you are a blogger, you maybe know that. If you are not let me try to explain: it was like logging in, putting some scenes and outfits together and was just not feeling it. And since it is my job to represent items the very best way I can I decided not to force it and try to get my blogging-mojo back.

On the plus side: I finally managed to get my ass in gear and to make pictures that are somewhat appealing to me. And of course I have some adorable newness to show you. Two events started beginning of April – The Mens Dept. and The Challenge. And I mixed items from both events for this californian inspired blogpost. The Mens Dept. provided me with a new haircut from Uw.st. The “Lenny Hair” is finally a curly hairstyle – and there are not that much on the grid for men anyways. And i must say I fell in love with this hair. Also Poetic Colors brought some adorable new eyes in the Mens Dept. I am wearing the Jaded Eyes Emerald. The Thorn Necklace comes from Kosh and the Cardigan from !gO! – both also available at the sales event for guys. The denims instead are the new mesh release from [ JP ]:dsg and I simply love them. First of all the texturing is fantastic. And second the denims have a belt that does not look like you are wearing a tire around your hips. Really well done and strongly recommended.

The titel of this post is “California Morning” and it comes from this months theme of The Challenge: California Bungalow. And L&K Prefabs have exactly that as item for The Challenge – a California Bungalow. The prefab has a very bold texturing and has two rooms and a veranda also. And it is not only a 100% mesh build but also beautifully made. I especially love the texturing inside and I hope that the pictures give you a fair impression of that.

California Morning 2What I am showing you here is the main room of the bungalow. The chairs and the side table in the upper part of the picture come from [kusshon] and are – again – from the Mens Dept. The new released Singapore series has a great vacation vibe, but also fits, like shown above, in nearly every kind of room. Like with all items from [kusshon] there are a lot of gadgets included in the furniture. Not alone that the chairs hold 14 animations – the pillows also give you things like magazines, a glass of wine and a cigarette matching some of the animations. I really love the backdrop and the side table with the tropical fruits.

In the lower part of above picture you can see some more items from The Challenge. There is the dining table with chairs from EoD called “Dining at Home”. And the tea set is just one of the many things the table can rez. The nightstand comes from 22769 ~ [bauwerk] and it works as nightstand for your bed, but also as console like used here. The set includes a completely decorated version, a plain version and all decoration pieces as stand alones also. The Light on the nightstand has a turn on/off script inside. The rug is a new release from L&K Prefabs which will come to the store soon in many different colors. The guitar bookcase is from floorplan and again from the Mens Dept. And the antler is a mesh accessory from Scarlet Creative.

California Morning 3Breno just released the Niall Morning Chaise. I really love the texturing on this one and the poses fit even taller avatars like I am. Also there are a lot of new stuff to find in the new Breno Store like the checkmate artwork also. The stars lamp are from *bbqq* and are their share for the new Mens Dept. The books and the newspapers are decoration pieces I gathered for some time now. And the bookshelf in the closing picture is from World Of Wood and I really must say that this piece is definitely one of the most realistic looking bookshelfes I have found in secondlife. So if you have a thing for books you definitely should pay World Of Wood a visit.

Sadness

Sadness 1

Yesterday I have had one of these moments – and before you run away: nope – this will not become an emo-post.

I have collected some furniture pieces I wanted to show you over the last couple of days when I heard the message that BAFFLE is having a closing sale. And actually that made me kind of sad since I loved the creations of Samantha Smadga a lot. And I really hope that she will come back soon again with maybe a complete new business. So if you like BAFFLE you better hop to the mainstore and grab as much things as you can get because everything is reduced to 55L$ and after November 15th it will be gone for good. So did I and I got myself the Le Petite Reve Skybox which is a wonderful representation of the astonishing crafting and texturing abilities of Samantha.

Trompe Loeil have just released the first Christmas items – and when I went to their store and saw the Star Light Pendant Lamps (come in 3 different sizes, copy, mod and turn on by mouseclick) I knew I had to get those. My mother has the same ones in RL and she always hangs them up around X-mas time. So it really is some kind of home feeling for me. The thing with furniture and decoration in second life is kind of interesting because the realism is nearly unbeatable anymore. And especially with these lamps I associate childhood feelings, home and parents. And yeah – I went a bit emo when I hung them up in my new appartment but honestly – this is a good thing. We are talking about a virtual world here in which you literally can do everything. And if there are some items that have that effect on you because you mishmash them with your real life experiences then it can not be a bad thing. So much for “second life is just a game”.

Sadness 2

The Small Enamel Cabinet from %Percent is another one of these pieces because my granny used to have one of these and I have all good feeling about it because the cookie jar was standing just on top of it. The club chair is also from Trompe Loeil and I blogged this one before in my post Sleepless. The art is from the current Gallery Gift Shop and comes from Chiana Oh. And the Bonsai Tree with table is from ~Hanaya~. You can change the seasons of the bonsai tree by click and it is just a wonderful piece of decoration. A non changeable bonsai tree is also available as second year anniversary November groupgift at ~Hanaya~.

Sadness 3

The Mens Dept is also a wonderful place to find furniture made with men in mind. The Angle Frames “It’s A Keeper” are the share of Cheeky Pea and the crate shelf comes from floorplan – both items are mesh and wonderful and unique pieces. The utility tables with the book and also the framed Winter Canvas are from {ililo} and also can be found in the current Mens Dept. The rug is again from BAFFLE.

Sadness 4

I decorated the bedroom of the Le Petite Reve Skybox with another bargain furniture piece from the Mens Dept. The “sorting shelf” is from Vespertine and just matches perfectly the other furniture pieces you can find at the Mens Dept. Either the bleached wood is kind of a trend right now in the furniture scene within second life or the creators have coordinated themselfes. Nevertheless – you can get this pieces all on one location and if my pictures do not show you should believe me – they are wonderful.

The “Earnst TV” is from Cheeky Pea and you can change the texture of the screen and the set by mouseclick.

My todays look is again the Corduroy Skater Trousers from 22769 ~ casual couture that can also be found at the Mens Dept. Likewise my glasses from BALACLAVA – the Kip Glasses can be found in different colors at the Mens Dept. And each set includes different options. The shirt is a new release from {MoYaz}. The shirt comes in plain options and also in the 70’s collection – and I absolutely adore these. Shown above is the “Buttoned Shirt 70’s Beige”.

And last but not least: The Barrel Bed from Trompe Loeil which can be found at the current round of FaMESHed. It matches perfectly the previous releases from Trompe Loeil and is somewhat quirky with the barrel shape and texturing. The bed is available in many different styles – shown here is Brown and Freesia.

Aztec Weekend

Aztec Weekend 1

Welcome to the well deserved weekend. Since I am rather lazy on the weekends I decided to make a more comfi blog post. Todays main actor is the Replica Prefab from { ililo } that can be found at the current Mens Dept. The building is a cottage like small house with lovely texturing. I especially adore the floor tiling. { ililo } not only has the prefab in the Mens Dept. but also the Ind. Lamp and the Farmhouse Table (displayed in picture 2).

My todays outfit also comes from the Mens Dept. The Painter Pants are from [Sheep Door] and the fleece jacket is the Aztec Jacket from {.essences.}. The jacket is available in 5 different styles and it is rigged mesh in male standard sizing.

The sofa is a special edition from LISP BAZAAR and the artwork comes from Emma Hack and is available at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

Aztec Weekend 2

I really love the Farmhouse Table from { ililo }. The texturing is flawless and it is again a piece of furniture that looks just way real. The wooden chairs come from Warbug Headquarters and they match just perfectly the overall country home style. I strongly recommend to visit Warbug Headquarters anyways because there is many stuff to explore there and second the items are definitely not overpriced. floorplan have two wonderful and quirky items to offer in the Mens Dept. First of all the photo hanger in the background. You can add your own pictures to it and it is just that decoration piece that gives individualism to your virtual home. The second item is the “honest abe lamp” and it is… a Top Hat. The funny thing about the lamp is, that there is indeed the lamp in the package, but also a top hat you can wear (or place as decoration like I did). The second hat is from the currently running Runway Perfect Hunt and comes from Xen’s Hats. Finally the dishes are from BoatHouse – one of my favorite shops when it comes to decoration and country style furniture.

October is the month of Halloween – and Halloween marks the start of the huge celebrated holidays within second life. And of course the current Mens Dept. has also some Halloween-ish items: BALACLAVA!! has the supercreepy twins as offer at the venue. Both are mesh with a LI of 10 (each) so it is not too heavy for a decoration piece.

Aztec Weekend 3

There is no doubt that the current round of the Mens Dept. is one of the best so far – you can get so much wonderful stuff there. And since nothing at the Mens Dept. is over 150 L$ you also make a snip and your virtual wallet will not be exhausted after a shopping spree.

The preppy jumper comes from [Sheep Door] and is another good example about how creative creators work with the new medium mesh these days. The jumper can be worn with and without shirt. And again the shirt can not be worn alone. But I so love the overall look of this and also the folding of the jumper is way realistic. I chose for todays look the cropped shirt navy. Other colors and demos are available at the Mens Dept.

The bermuda shorts are from 22769 ~ casual couture and are the current huntgift in the Finding FabFree Hunt. The gift also contains an open shirt for men which is not shown here. And also my todays haircut is from the Finding FabFree Hunt and is the gift from ChiChicky.

List of stuff:
Hair: ChiChickie! – Tyler (Finding FabFree Hunt)
Jumper: [Sheep Door] Cropped Shirts Navystripe (with collar) (for the Mens Dept.)
Shorts:  22769 ~ casual couture – [homme] Bermuda Shorts Creme (Finding FabFree Hunt)
Furniture: [DECO] – Mumbai Ottoman (for the Mens Dept.)

In case you wonder about where I took my todays pictures in: it is the fantastic Mumbai Sky Loft from [DECO] which also can be found in the current Mens Dept. (and also the ottoman stool from the first picture). The name of this more then awesome prefab tells you it is a skybox – and it works pretty well as skybox indeed – but on the other hand it also works as a ground house as you can see in the picture. This is something I love about the prefab – that it works both ways. The Mumbai Sky Loft also has a entrance door for this purpose – and if you will use it as skybox you can either rezz a platform with gardening in front of it or build yourself a balcony.

Anyways – the texturing in this prefab is wonderful – rich earthlike tones, very sophisticated wood textures and a lot of neat things to find. The skybox is a maisonette prefab – there is a gallery also as second floor reachable via stairs.

List of stuff:
Prefab: [DECO] – The Mumbai Sky Loft (for the Mens Dept.)

I mixed for the interior many things I gained over the last few days in my inventory – but somehow they came together naturally. There is – first of all – the ICONIC sofa from Apple Fall which is also an items from the current Mens Dept. And this one is really a surprise because it holds so many poses in it – i believe even more poses then in my posestand i use from time to time. You find single and coupleposes galore and also the look of this one is really something I want to have in my RL also. I spiced the furniture up with some stuff also from Apple Fall from the current Round of FaMESHed – the Vogue frame and the hemp rug.

The shelf behind me – or in better words: the bookworm ladder – is one of the items from floorplan for the Mens Dept. And I just love it. Not only that I love books and own many of them in RL, but the idea is simple and brilliant. The lamp is a new release from { {BSD Design Studio} } and the plant is – again – a gift in the Finding FabFree Hunt and comes from [PP].

List of stuff:
Sofa: [AF] – ICONIC Sofa (for the Mens Dept.)
Frame: [AF] – VOGUE Frame (for FaMESHed September)
Carpet: [AF] – HEMP Rug Branches(for FaMESHed September)
Shelf: floorplan. – bookworm ladder / neutral (for the Mens Dept.)
Plant: [PP] – Cactus Container Garden (Finding FabFree Hunt)
Lamp: { { BSD Designs Studio } } – post modern 3legs lamp L

Living In The Past

Living_in_the_past_1

Coincidences in secondlife never fail to amaze me. I think everyone knows by now that the Vintage Fair is up and running and vintage – or retro style – is the big hype on the grid. Nevertheless: the Mens Dept. is a sales event that is not dedicated to past lifestyles. But if you look close enough you find items there that simply fit in every kind of era. The old TV chair set from [kusshon] is one of these items. You can choose between 4 colors and the chair itself has 10 poses in typical TV lounging style. The couch table and a splendid amount of probs (beer cans, cheeseburger, slice of pizza, ashtray, cigarettes) is also included in the set. What I like most about the probs from [kusshon] is the fact that you can share these probs with your friends since they are mostly trans. So if you are looking for typical boy furniture – the Mens Dept. should be your first stop!

Living_in_the_past_2

Floorplan have this chest of drawers at the Mens Dept. And here the fun starts: You can change the color of the drawers by mouseklick and I guess every designer would give you the options “yellows”, “blues and reds”…etc. Not floorplan – here you can choose between the colorstyles “chewie”, “artoo”, “threepio”, “darth” and “dagobah”. Shown above are left threepio and right artoo. The mesh tee is the item from DROP and I especially like that it is not overtextured so you can fit it to every kind of look you are going for. DROP have 6 different colors at the Mens Dept – so you definitely will find a suitable one for you. The cropped pants with the badges are also mesh and come from [LOVE RE ME] – and even if they are the item for the Mens Dept there is also the female version included. And finally the skin is – again – from NIVARO and is the special release for the current Mens Dept. round.

Finally I can close the circle by coming back to the Vintage Fair again. The skybox I took the pictures in is the exclusive release from %Percent. The 70s retro skybox has the dimensions 7.5 m to 20 m and 5.5 m height (approx.) and only 24 prims after set up. And it has these neat 70s styled patterns on the wall and also on the carpet. Also it has a lot of windows and a small balcony – so enough room for you to make your ideas real. Also the skybox comes copy and mod – that means that you can, with a little bit of building knowledge – alter the box to your needs like tearing down a wall and rez a second one beneath it to double its size. The skybox contains mesh parts.
