My Four Walls

My Four Walls 1

And I am back again (kinda) – have you missed me? OK – I am seriously pissed. As I already told you I moved flats in RL and the phonecompany messed up my internet contract big time. In fact the issue is still waiting to become solved (I am still hoping). Anyways – a buddy of mine was so kind to let me use his computer for this blog post, but of course it feels different when you are not sitting on your own machine. Anyways – his computer is really good, better then mine. I might steal it from him 😉
Todays main actor is the fantastic Olisipo Skybox from L&K Prefabs. It is available at the Designers Warehouse right now and you can get it for half of the regular price. And it is so worth it. The texturing is amazing and it has many neat gadgets like opening doors and a fireplace and many really interesting angles to decorate. My pictures surely do the skyhome no justice since – because of above mentioned RL issues – I was not able to decorate all of the rooms without my buddy strangeling me. But here are the facts: You have two huge bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom – and you have a hallway you can see in above picture in the background.
Tha Wall Art behind me is from the new round of the Gallery Gift Shop and comes from #7. The cube chair I am lounging in is from [bauwerk] who finally opened their doors to the public. And if you are a furniture addict like I am I strongly recommend the Four Walls Hunt – because literally everything you can see in the background – the chair, the sideboard and the frames – are from the hunt which is by far one of my most fav hunts in the grid.

List of stuff:
Chair (foreground): 22769 ~ [bauwerk] Cube Chair White Leather
Wall Art: #7 – Cubed Wall Glass (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Chair (background): L&K Prefabs – Good Old Armchair (Four Walls Hunt)
Sideboard: PILOT – Miller Dresser (Four Walls Hunt)
Frames: End Of Daze – Canvass (part of the Four Walls Hunt Gift)

My Four Walls 2

Cupcakes anyone? These are the ubercute gift from Sway for the Four Walls Hunt. The painting in my back is from the Gallery Gift Shop and it is called “Our Beach in November” by Gabrielle Swindlehurst who is a master in highly atmospheric pictures. The furniture – except the rug which was an advent gift from [CIRCA] – comes from [bauwerk] and is a new release. On the left you can see the inbuild fireplace of the Olisipo Skybox. And the ceiling lights are the opening groupgift from *bbqq*.

List of stuff:
Chair left: 22769 ~ [bauwerk] – Lounge Chair white leather
Poof right: 22769 ~ [bauwerk] Sitting Poof Play
Coffee Table: 22769 ~ [bauwerk] Palette Table

My Four Walls 3

Just for clarification: I only use the telescope for watching the stars and NOT for watching my cute neighbour when he leaves the shower, ok? Anyways – the telescope is a brilliant prob from Hanaya called “Star Party” and it is the gift for the also currently running Cold Winter Nights Hunt. It comes of course with pose animations and is really very well done. The reading nook I am sitting in front of is from BRENO and like the modular shelf from Scarlet Creative it is again a gift for the Four Walls Hunt.

List of stuff:
Telescope: ~Hanaya~ – Star Party (Cold Winter Nights Hunt)
Reading Nook: BRENO – Reading Nook (Four Walls Hunt)

First I have to warn you: this is going to be a long post with a lot of pictures. But I hope you find it somewhat useful. I came to the idea with this post after my friends, who generously allow me to build my sets on their sim, have been looking for some decorative winter and christmas stuff. And well – since the winter season is about to begin in second life and I received some questions also where to buy what for decorating the house, store or sim I thought it would be easier to make a blogpost about it.
The pictures have been taken in the adorable Noelle Chalet from Scarlet Creative. I found the prefab on the marketplace and you can get it there for the steal of 200 L$. Not only that the house is extremely lovely textured and done – it also comes with a basic set of furniture all inclusive. For a SL single like me it is the perfect winter house that already sets you in the right pre-x-mas-mood. The next thing I strongly recommend are two hunts going on right now: The Great Outdoor Hunt and the Silverlining Hunt. Both hunts are not free – the Great Outdoor Hunt charges 45 L$ per huntitem and the Silverlining Hunt 5L$ – but it is definitely worth it! My computer in above picture is the Silverlining Huntprice from SFW Industries and the console and the picture frame is the Bertram Set from estatica from the same hunt. The frame comes blank – you can put your own image in it like I did.

If you are looking for themed furniture and decoration one of my first adresses is LISP Bazaar. LISP have many offers on the marketplace and also a huge amount of highly decorative items for a budget price. I got myself the Winter Room Whole Set in a Box that contains so much adorable stuff like the x-mas stockings on my chimney and the cute Snowflake Tag Chair. The Log Basket with Axe just matches perfectly the DIGS Huntgift for the Great Outdoor Hunt: the Nature’s Way Log Store.
The Silver Kitchen Shelf comes from Pestique Furniture and is their share for the Silverlining Hunt. And the Artwork above the chimney is from Felipe Bedoya and is called Dios. You can get it for free at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

List of stuff:
Dinnertable and Chairs: Scarlet Creative – Adler Dining Table (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Computer: SFW Industries – Flatscreen Monitor and Keyboard (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Console and Pictureframe: estatica – Bertram Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Chair: LISP Bazaar – Snowflake Tag Chair
X-Mas Stockings: LISP Bazaar – Stockings Blue
Log Store: DIGS – Nature’s Way Mini Set (The RLM Great Outdoor Hunt)
Log Basket: LISP Bazaar –Burlap Bag of Logs
Shelf: Pestique Furniture – Kitchen Shelf Silver (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Art: LND Gallery and Hangout – Felipe Bedoya: Dios (free)

If you decorate for winter or even for christmas obviously it is all about the light. And this is kind of a tricky issue in second life to be honest. Lamps often can be way too bright and even art often comes with a own lighting, that radiates way too much. Most of the times the items you purchase are mod – and it is a good idea, for a special cozy look and feel, to lower the brightness or even the light radiation by yourself.

Cozy 4

I love to mix and match vintage furniture with rather modern pieces. I had a discussion with a friend a few days ago about this. And the true and simple fact is: nothing gives a room or a house more personality then a healthy mixture of styles. Because we all are not living in a furniture catalogue in RL also, right? We all have pieces with history like a rug or a sofa or even a bed and buy eventually some new stuff to mix and match it with what we already have. If you are going for a comfi look of your home in SL I only can suggest that you keep that in mind. If you buy everything new and all at once you maybe archive a nice look, but it appears cold. At least that is the experience I made with decorating SL homes.

I kept that in mind when I created my two comfort zones. In the upper part of the picture I combined the Anna Sofa from LISP with the weekend lounge from BoatHouse. The drapes, the lamp and the String Lights in the window are also from LISP. And the side table is from the Haarlem Deco Set from POST.
The lower part of the picture has the two ball chairs that come with the purchase of the Noelle Chalet. The supercute fireplace is the Silverlining Huntgift from L&K Prefabs. The coffee table and also the gingerbread on it with the hot chocolate are again from LISP.
Again I want to point you also to the Gallery Gift Shop, my favorite shopping event within second life. You can not get somewhere else state of the art artworks for your walls. Of course the Gallery Gift Shop is not only about art but also about fashion and accessory and many things more – but when it comes to decorating you just must at least have a look there.

List of stuff:
Lighttree: ICONIC – Light Tree
Artwork (on floor): Chiana Oh – AM Radio’s Train (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Sofa left: BoatHouse – Weekend Lounge

Trompe Loeil just released a huge set of holiday decorations and they are in one word adorable. I already told you that I love these stars Cory Edo made as lamps. Now they are also available as ground floor decoration and I can assure you that no home within SL will have them not lying around in one corner at christmas. They are fantastic! Trompe Loeil also made this decorative sleigh in many different colors and it is just way cute.

Another cute find is the “Starry Night” Deco set from [CIRCA] which is indeed again a huntgift in the Silverlining Hunt. And you get so much in this one. The mirror, the side table and the silver tree. And now it shows that the theme of the monochrome silverlining hunt is perfect for the season – because it just can not get more winterish then that. The propped up wall sled is again a find at LISP – and again: check the marketplace-store of LISP for higly decorative holiday things!

List of stuff:
Sideboard: LISP Bazaar –Snowfrost Heart Console (decoration also comes from LISP)
Sleigh: Trompe Loeil – Decorative Sleigh White
Stars: Trompe Loeil – Star Duo Ground Silver/White
Side Table, Mirror and Silver Tree: CIRCA – “Starry Night” Deco Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Wall Sled: LISP Bazaar –Propped Up Wall Sled with scarf

Cozy 6

The bedroom is more or less the interior that came with the Noelle Chalet. However – I brought some personal touch in it with the supernerdy Space Invaders Wall Art from BRENO. I love retro and obviously I love computer games (otherwise I would not spend ages to write blogposts about a virtual enviroment) and the wall art is just so me. On the wall you can see the Casting Dresser from DIGS. And like the Wall Art it is also a gift in the Silverlining Hunt. So I guess you get a picture now, why you must do this hunt, when you want to decorate your home in winter style.

Decorating a home is one thing. Decorating a sim is a complete different story. Most trees and plants come no copy which is understandable from the creators point of view. Nevertheless – if you have a whole sim or parcel to decorate you can literally spend a fortune on plants and rocks and neat outdoor stuff. No doubt: it IS expensive. If you read my blogposts for some time you know that I am a fanboy of Garden Of Dreams since the creator Kayle Matzerath is putting so much love for detail in them. Another point is: the dreamscenes (and also the permanent skyboxes that come with every dreamscene) are copy and mod. For this post I took the Winter Cabin Dreamscene and took all plants, gras, rocks and mountains out of it to decorate the surrounding of the chalet. I will be honest: I did not decorate on the ground but on a 60×60 meter prim. But what works high up in the air works on the ground also. And if you want to decorate a parcel or a sim you should check out the dreamscenes from GOD since you will safe money on the long run. Garden Of Dreams just released also some mesh trees. You can see a few in the pictures below, but I will make a proper post about them soon. And while we are talking about it: GOD also has currently a christmas sale with winter/Christmas stuff. So there are many reasons to check the store out.

Contempo

Contempo

It is funny how words can hook you up. Contempo is such a word. Trompe Loeil just released a new subscribo gift called “Contempo Frame” which you can see hanging above me. This came in quite handy since I wanted to decorate the prefab I want to blog about today anyways. And since Contempo is kind of a catchy word I tried to figure out what it actually means. And I failed! Because everyone seems to claim Contempo for different things that are not really connected to each other. Fact is: Contempo was a little magazine published 1931 – 1934 wich was quite influental on modernism. Another fact: Contempo is the catchy short for Contemporary and finds its usage in fashion, furniture, art and music. Even the landstream of the sim I am taking pictures on has a show called “Contempo”. To keep a long story and research short: I think that Contempo is a loose definition of a style that is quite clear structured.

Talking about groupgifts: The bench I am sitting on is a group gift from LITHIUM and is quite cute and also fits in the contempo-vibe of todays blog post perfectly. And the gift from Trompe Loeil also matches of course the contempo furniture set you can find at FaMESHed.

My todays look comes straight from the Mens Dept. The denims and the check shirt are both mesh from [The Blink] and they come as set. Both can be worn seperately. I especially like the folding of the denims a lot. Another example how mesh encourages designer to create an extra realistic look in their creations.

List of stuff:
Outfit: [The Blink] – Grey Plaid Shirt (for the Mens Dept.)
Bench: :::LITHIUM::: – bench (Group Gift)
Frame: Trompe Loeil – Contempo Frame (Subscribo Gift)

Todays pictures have been taken in the wonderful “Sound City” Studio Build by [CIRCA] – a modern house/skybox which has about 20 squaremeters Footprint and includes a small gallery. You can see a better picture of the prefab on the bottom of this post. But the most interesting part for sure is: The house is completely for free in the Finding FabFree Hunt. So if you are looking for a nice home – this definitely is worth searching for!

I combined the interior decoration from many things I have in my inventory. There are the flower sofas from LITHIUM which became a true SL classic already. The decor vase with the branches are from Designer Prims and the sequented screen in the background is from [AF]/ICONIC and also can be found in the current Mens Dept. The wall art is from Gabrielle Swindlehurst and can be found either at the Gallery Gift Shop or at her Exhibition at the Art India Gallery.

List of stuff:
Art: Gabrielle Swindlehurst – Fields Of Frost (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Screen: [AF] – ICONIC Screen (for the Mens Dept.)
Sofas: :::LITHIUM::: – Flower Sofa
Decoration:  Designer Prims – Vase with Branches

Countryside

Countryside 1

Welcome Friday and welcome to my blogpost dedicated to the living on the countryside. I found recently some adorable shops and things that I absolutely wanted to share with you and to – hopefully – give you another idea of living in second life. And what I found quite interesting: when I put together the stuff for todays blogpost I found myself in a rather peaceful mood which is rare, cause usually I am hopping from location to location and grabbing things and do all in a rush. Today it was really slowed down and, yeah, relaxing. See – that is the thing the country does to people. Even if it is virtual.

Since I already knew the topic of todays post – because of several items I gathered within the last couple of days – I needed a look for the blog entry. So I got myself this tan tweed jacket from Kauna that comes together with the shirt and the tie. The pack is rather surprising, because you do not get only one shirt and tie but a splendid selection of colors and patterns for the tie. One warning tho: you can not wear the shirt alone because it is crafted for beeing worn under the jacket. But that is fair enough since I did not even expected the shirt in the package. I completed the look with the slim cut denims in used blue from 22769 ~ casual couture and the white sport shoes from GizzA.

Peaceful living: -Hanaya- just released these adorable Bird Feeders in several options (for hanging from a tree, with the old table and with a stand). The birds are included and they tweet – so this alone sets you in the right country mood. The wonderful house is, believe it or not, a gift from [CIRCA] for the Homestuff Hunt – and I strongly recommend getting this one (if you have not the time to do the complete hunt which I also recommend). The Studio Coast Loft ist wonderful build and has two big rooms and also a second floorlet where you i.e. put a bed in. The roof is completely glass and what I love most about the building is that you have two entrances and that the rooms are seperate but also float within each other with holes in the wall.

Countryside 2

Virtual homes are not only furniture cluttered in different rooms. The best homes in my opinion have something like a personality and I decorated the Studio Coast Loft to represent of course myself the best. I have already told you about this adorable new shop I found here. BoatHouse have all kind of neat stuff to bring personality in virtual rooms. I got there the Book Stacks and also the potted droopy flowers on the table. The shelfes, the table, the angel ceiling light and the crow chair are from Mysterious Wave – another cute shop I ran into. The designs are kind of quirky, but also lovely. You will find a lof of shelfes there, all with a different theme. And Mysterious Wave is extremely fair priced. So if you need that little extra for your room – you better check the store out. Oh – and the empty flower pots in the first picture are also from this shop and they are just 1 L$!

In the third picture you see what I meant with rooms seperated but floating in each other. You have this breakthru you also can decorate like I did with another angel lamp from Mysterious Wave and the Matriochka creations from :NuDoLu Voyage: I got myself from the Gallery Gift Shop. The cushions on the floor are from [AF] and they look just so real to me. By the way: If you join the [AF] group you can get the fatpack of these cushions for free and they are highly decorative.

And talking about the decorative side of second life: I am a missionary for art in SL. The two paintings you can see in the last picture are from Gabrielle Swindlehurst who just has an exhibition today, 31st August. The opening party will be 12 – 2pm at the Art India Gallery. And of course Gabrielle is selling her art there also. And just to wash all your doubts away: when it comes to fair pricing Gabrielles art is another good exapmle for that. At the Gallery Gift Shop you hardly find a painting from her that is more then 20 L$. So check her exhibition out!

Little House on the Prairie

Little House 1

Hello Sunday! In todays post I will focus on enviroment and stuff that make our virtual lifes comfi and give us a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Home, sweet home. When I browsed some flickr streams I found an adorable little house as groupgift from a shop I have never heard about – which is not that hard since SL is so big. Sweet Harmony – or short [SH] – give away this way cute little home to their group members. And it is all kind of awesome. I will show you details shortly.

Little House 2

But talking about groupgifts: Behind me is the fabulous Teardrop Bed from Trompe Loeil. And – you guess it already – it is a gift to the subscriber group of Trompe Loeil. It has 4 animations (3 sleeping and one sitting) which are pretty much unisex. I already mentioned the little plants I got from the Lucky Board at Lithium. And again it is a good idea to join this group also, because Lithium has a second Lucky Board that changes every 5 minutes (instead of 30 minutes like the “regular” one).

The painting behind me is from the new Gallery Gift Shop. Again it is from Gabrielle Swindlehurst and it is called “Mountains Of The Moon”. There is one thing about living in second life that always puzzeled me: people seem to spend so much effort for finding the fitting furniture and skyboxes but seem to forget about art. And in my opinion some stunning piece of art makes some plain four walls something like a home. So having that in mind you simply have to go to the Gallery Gift Shop. First you find stunning artworks there and second the pieces are definitely not overpriced – and they also change with every rotation. Just like the other items you can find there.

Little House 3

One word about the outfit I am wearing today: The loose shirt is from NYU and it has absolutely convincing folds and looks just too real to me. The bermuda shorts are from the Mens Dept. – and guys HURRY UP! The August round is closing shortly. The shorts are from 22769 and I especially like the realism and the texturing of those.

But coming back to the house as promised above. You see the pop art painting in my back? Yes – this wall art is part of the whole house – and it gives the whole building such a nice and joyful contrast, especially with the red wall and the curtains which are also a part of the house. The texturing is more then reasonable and there are a billion reasons why you should get this group gift – for me it was definitely when I saw the pop art faces.

The lights above me are from CIRCA and are usually outdoor dandelion lights – but well… for me they work indoor also. The dandelion lights come in 4 sizes from S to XL and they are copy. Shown here is size M. And the chair is also from Trompe Loeil and is the gift in the Homestuff Hunt.

And some final words on the scenery: it is again from Garden Of Dreams. The dreamscene “The Field” is probably the most functionable skydome for people who are just looking for some place to live. Because it basically is – a field. You can do it like I did and put a house inside and you have the perfect enviroment that will definitely stun all your friends. And since the dreamscenes from Garden Of Dreams are also as permanent skyboxes in the package you simply have no reason to live in dull four walls with nothing outside.
