The Cottage

The Cottage 1

Welcome to my last pre-christmas post of the year. Tomorrow I will drive to my parents place for the holidays and the internet connection there is way too crappy to make good blogshots. But I still have to catch up on many things like new releases and Advent Calendars and so I picked for this blogpost some of the cutest finds in the grid right now.
The Cottage is an Advent Calendar Gift from 22769 ~ casual couture and it is their gift for December, 23rd. The guys from 22769 have been so kind to give it to me beforehand and anyways – I guess it is time also to say thank you to Manu and Paco that they allow me to clutter their sim with my primmy fotosets. The blizzard topiaries left and right from the stairs come from the Advent Calendar from [CIRCA] and both trees also hold cute poses. Both trees also have these cute giant snowwhite christmas balls and are a wonderful addition to every winterish sim.

List of stuff:
Trees: CIRCA – Blizzard Topiaries (Advent Calendar Item)
House: 22769 ~ casual couture – Advent House (Advent Calendar Item 23rd Dec.)
Lights: L&K Prefabs – Einter Greenhouse Lights (15% discount til Sunday here)

There is one for every eye in the package and it is a brilliant item for roleplay or just that tough look. The necklace, ear warmer and also the rigged mesh christmas socks again are Advent Calendar items from 22769 ~ casual couture. The socks are todays item under the huge fir tree in their store – so better hurry up to get them. The jumper and the pants come from the December Mens Dept. And the wonderful quirky Antler Chair I am lounging on is – once again – an Advent Calendar Gift from 22769. It comes with 4 neat poses which are quite easy to adjust.

Nevertheless – the wooden Christmas Tree, the flowers and the plates with christmas cookies come from the Adventcalendar from [CIRCA]. The Indian Lanterns are an Advent Calendar Gift from BoatHouse. The Scrabble game and the Hanging Bulbs Pendant Light comes from {af}. {af} also have a 12 days of christmas calendar with neat stuff – so check the store regularely. The bed will be available at the mainstore of L&K Prefabs – but I learned from the blog of the store that you can get the bed – and several other items – at their satellite store with 15% dicount til Sunday. So better hurry up for that snip!
The Sun Spiral Mirror is from [CIRCA] and are again from their wonderful Advent Calendar. The additional furniture in the “bed picture” comes from BoatHouse. I really must say I love the “Bertram Desk and Chair” from estatica a lot. It is just that classy piece of furniture to brighten up your virtual home. The “Captains Letter” with nib comes with the desk but also can become purchased seperate. The flowers on my desk are from LISP and so is the room divider that seperates the adorable bath from BoatHouse.

We will see each other again “inbetween years” when I come back with hopefully even more stuff to show you. Til then: take care ❤

Retreat

Retreat 1 Happy Sunday everyone. Todays blogpost is dedicated to some finds at the Mens Dept., some hunt gifts and most of all again decoration for you winter homes. But lets start with my todays outfit and look: The shirt and the pants I am wearing are from the Mens Dept. and they are the items from etam. Nice rigged mesh items and I like the pants because they are just that kind of homewear I love to put on on a lazy sunday. The boots are from BSD Designs and are also rigged mesh. The Equestrian Boots are unisex and are just the right kind of footwear for a nice winter walk.
Hanaya have released a lot of wonderful items for the Relay for Life Christmas Expo. The adorable Wintery Driftwood Birdbath is one of them and the Frozen Pond Bench in my back is another one. They are just lovely pieces of decoration to give your home that special winter feeling. The house I am standing in front of is the new release from Trompe Loeil for Collabor 88. The Frostbite Cottage comes in 4 different colors. I chose the white one and you can see a full shot of the house on the bottom of this post.

List of stuff:
Shirt: etam – Athletic Shirt Red (for the Mens Dept.)
Pants: etam – Men’s Track Pants Black (for the Mens Dept.)
Boots: BSD Designs – Equestrian Boots
Bird Bath: ~Hanaya~ – Wintery Driftwood Birdbath (for the “Relay For Life Christmas Expo”)
Bench: ~Hanaya~ – Frozen Pond Bench (for the “Relay For Life Christmas Expo”)

Retreat 2I decided to decorate the Frostbite Cottage in a more man-ly way this time. And again there are some fantastic furniture finds with men in mind at the Mens Dept. Like the ensemble from {af} called “Ralph’s Entryway” containing the drawers, the model sailboat, the brass lantern and the rope suspended gallery. I combined it with the new released Lounge Chair in corduroy from Trompe Loeil (tan), the Loveseat Corduroy (tan) also from Trompe Loeil (both for Collabor 88 also), the hunters living room table from World of Wood and the Winter Day Bed from WetCat.
The Winter Day Bed is the huntgift for the current running “Home for Christmas Hunt”. And while we are talking about hunts: the chalkboard in the back of the Winter Day Bed is also a huntgift. This time it is from evolve and it is their share for the “With Love Hunt”. The “Grannys Type Case” above the Lounge chair is an Advent Calendar gift from 22769 for the 13th December – so mark that date in your calendar, because it is lovely. The Antler Chandelier comes from “The Loft” and the rug is a new release from {af}

List of stuff:

Retreat 3In my “sleeping corner” I used another huntitems: the Stockholm Bed from Vespertine is – again – a wonderful gift from the “With Love Hunt” The bedside table is from the Mens Dept. and is the item from PILOT. The room divider comes from LISP who really have some neat christmas decoration items. In my reading corner I used the Eames Lounge Chair from 2Xtreme and the hunters bookshelf from World of Woods. And these cute window decorations are from [CIRCA]. The festive pinecones are the current groupgift at the store. Also from [CIRCA] is the “Boho Winter” Snowflake Tree – and it is a part of their Gift for the Peace On Earth Hunt. The Primitive Timber Bench is also a part of a huntgift – this time from POST and for the “With Love Hunt”

Art: LND Gallery and Hangout – Avett Brothers NY Poster (free)
Bench: POST – Primitive Timber Bench (for the With Love Hunt)

Retreat 4I found this lovely butterfly table at L&K Prefabs. Not only it is wonderful made – but as you can see in the picture you can unfold both wings of it individually by mouseclick. It is the perfect piece of decoration and even for secondlife extremely practical. The decoration set is also from L&K Prefabs and just matches the overall look of my little winter retreat place. The Christmas Tree comes from BoatHouse. The little tree also was one of the Advent Calendar Gifts from the store. The Christmas Punch Side Table comes from Pestique. It rezzes by mouseclick either the punch (like shown here) or wine. It is the huntgift from the store for the Home For Christmas Hunt. And the frames on the floor again come from {af}.

List of stuff:
Butterfly Table and Decoration: L&K Prefabs – Butterfly Table and Raw Tablewear
Christmas Tree: BoatHouse – Boathouse Advent Calendar Item
Sidetable: Pestique Furniture – Christmas Punch Side Table (for the Home for Christmas Hunt)
Frames: {af} – NY Print 1 and 2 (for the Mens Dept.)

Retreat 5And finally – like promised – the outside view of the lovely Frostbite Cottage from Trompe Loeil. I really must say that I love the size of this cottage – it is just not too big or too small – just the right size for bringing on some winterish feeling in your secondlife homes.

List of stuff:
Prefab: Trompe Loeil – Frostbite Cottage white (for Collabor 88)

Cozy

Cozy 1

First I have to warn you: this is going to be a long post with a lot of pictures. But I hope you find it somewhat useful. I came to the idea with this post after my friends, who generously allow me to build my sets on their sim, have been looking for some decorative winter and christmas stuff. And well – since the winter season is about to begin in second life and I received some questions also where to buy what for decorating the house, store or sim I thought it would be easier to make a blogpost about it.
The pictures have been taken in the adorable Noelle Chalet from Scarlet Creative. I found the prefab on the marketplace and you can get it there for the steal of 200 L$. Not only that the house is extremely lovely textured and done – it also comes with a basic set of furniture all inclusive. For a SL single like me it is the perfect winter house that already sets you in the right pre-x-mas-mood. The next thing I strongly recommend are two hunts going on right now: The Great Outdoor Hunt and the Silverlining Hunt. Both hunts are not free – the Great Outdoor Hunt charges 45 L$ per huntitem and the Silverlining Hunt 5L$ – but it is definitely worth it! My computer in above picture is the Silverlining Huntprice from SFW Industries and the console and the picture frame is the Bertram Set from estatica from the same hunt. The frame comes blank – you can put your own image in it like I did.

Cozy 2

If you are looking for themed furniture and decoration one of my first adresses is LISP Bazaar. LISP have many offers on the marketplace and also a huge amount of highly decorative items for a budget price. I got myself the Winter Room Whole Set in a Box that contains so much adorable stuff like the x-mas stockings on my chimney and the cute Snowflake Tag Chair. The Log Basket with Axe just matches perfectly the DIGS Huntgift for the Great Outdoor Hunt: the Nature’s Way Log Store.
The Silver Kitchen Shelf comes from Pestique Furniture and is their share for the Silverlining Hunt. And the Artwork above the chimney is from Felipe Bedoya and is called Dios. You can get it for free at the LND Gallery and Hangout.

List of stuff:
Dinnertable and Chairs: Scarlet Creative – Adler Dining Table (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Computer: SFW Industries – Flatscreen Monitor and Keyboard (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Console and Pictureframe: estatica – Bertram Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Chair: LISP Bazaar – Snowflake Tag Chair
X-Mas Stockings: LISP Bazaar – Stockings Blue
Log Store: DIGS – Nature’s Way Mini Set (The RLM Great Outdoor Hunt)
Log Basket: LISP Bazaar –Burlap Bag of Logs
Shelf: Pestique Furniture – Kitchen Shelf Silver (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Art: LND Gallery and Hangout – Felipe Bedoya: Dios (free)

Cozy 3

If you decorate for winter or even for christmas obviously it is all about the light. And this is kind of a tricky issue in second life to be honest. Lamps often can be way too bright and even art often comes with a own lighting, that radiates way too much. Most of the times the items you purchase are mod – and it is a good idea, for a special cozy look and feel, to lower the brightness or even the light radiation by yourself.

Cozy 4

I love to mix and match vintage furniture with rather modern pieces. I had a discussion with a friend a few days ago about this. And the true and simple fact is: nothing gives a room or a house more personality then a healthy mixture of styles. Because we all are not living in a furniture catalogue in RL also, right? We all have pieces with history like a rug or a sofa or even a bed and buy eventually some new stuff to mix and match it with what we already have. If you are going for a comfi look of your home in SL I only can suggest that you keep that in mind. If you buy everything new and all at once you maybe archive a nice look, but it appears cold. At least that is the experience I made with decorating SL homes.

I kept that in mind when I created my two comfort zones. In the upper part of the picture I combined the Anna Sofa from LISP with the weekend lounge from BoatHouse. The drapes, the lamp and the String Lights in the window are also from LISP. And the side table is from the Haarlem Deco Set from POST.
The lower part of the picture has the two ball chairs that come with the purchase of the Noelle Chalet. The supercute fireplace is the Silverlining Huntgift from L&K Prefabs. The coffee table and also the gingerbread on it with the hot chocolate are again from LISP.
Again I want to point you also to the Gallery Gift Shop, my favorite shopping event within second life. You can not get somewhere else state of the art artworks for your walls. Of course the Gallery Gift Shop is not only about art but also about fashion and accessory and many things more – but when it comes to decorating you just must at least have a look there.

List of stuff:
Lighttree: ICONIC – Light Tree
Artwork (on floor): Chiana Oh – AM Radio’s Train (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Sofa left: BoatHouse – Weekend Lounge
Sofa right: LISP Bazaar –Anna Sofa (with texture changer)
Sidetable: POST – Haarlem Deco Coffee Table
Lamp: LISP Bazaar –Frost Floor Lamp
Rug: Scarlet Creative – Adler Rug (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Drapes: LISP Bazaar –Beatrice Heavy Drapes (with texture changer)
Windowdecoration: LISP Bazaar –String Lights 5
Art: Gabrielle Swindlehurst – Fields of Frost (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Ballchairs: Scarlet Creative – Retro Bubble Chairs (comes included in the Noelle Chalet)
Fireplace: L&K Prefabs – Old Fireplace (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Coffee Table: LISP Bazaar –Tile Coffee Table White
Food: LISP Bazaar –Gingerbread Chocolate
Rug: LISP Bazaar –Warm Tartan Rug

Cozy 5

Trompe Loeil just released a huge set of holiday decorations and they are in one word adorable. I already told you that I love these stars Cory Edo made as lamps. Now they are also available as ground floor decoration and I can assure you that no home within SL will have them not lying around in one corner at christmas. They are fantastic! Trompe Loeil also made this decorative sleigh in many different colors and it is just way cute.

Another cute find is the “Starry Night” Deco set from [CIRCA] which is indeed again a huntgift in the Silverlining Hunt. And you get so much in this one. The mirror, the side table and the silver tree. And now it shows that the theme of the monochrome silverlining hunt is perfect for the season – because it just can not get more winterish then that. The propped up wall sled is again a find at LISP – and again: check the marketplace-store of LISP for higly decorative holiday things!

List of stuff:
Sideboard: LISP Bazaar –Snowfrost Heart Console (decoration also comes from LISP)
Sleigh: Trompe Loeil – Decorative Sleigh White
Stars: Trompe Loeil – Star Duo Ground Silver/White
Side Table, Mirror and Silver Tree: CIRCA – “Starry Night” Deco Set (for the Silverlining Hunt)
Wall Sled: LISP Bazaar –Propped Up Wall Sled with scarf

Cozy 6

The bedroom is more or less the interior that came with the Noelle Chalet. However – I brought some personal touch in it with the supernerdy Space Invaders Wall Art from BRENO. I love retro and obviously I love computer games (otherwise I would not spend ages to write blogposts about a virtual enviroment) and the wall art is just so me. On the wall you can see the Casting Dresser from DIGS. And like the Wall Art it is also a gift in the Silverlining Hunt. So I guess you get a picture now, why you must do this hunt, when you want to decorate your home in winter style.

Decorating a home is one thing. Decorating a sim is a complete different story. Most trees and plants come no copy which is understandable from the creators point of view. Nevertheless – if you have a whole sim or parcel to decorate you can literally spend a fortune on plants and rocks and neat outdoor stuff. No doubt: it IS expensive. If you read my blogposts for some time you know that I am a fanboy of Garden Of Dreams since the creator Kayle Matzerath is putting so much love for detail in them. Another point is: the dreamscenes (and also the permanent skyboxes that come with every dreamscene) are copy and mod. For this post I took the Winter Cabin Dreamscene and took all plants, gras, rocks and mountains out of it to decorate the surrounding of the chalet. I will be honest: I did not decorate on the ground but on a 60×60 meter prim. But what works high up in the air works on the ground also. And if you want to decorate a parcel or a sim you should check out the dreamscenes from GOD since you will safe money on the long run. Garden Of Dreams just released also some mesh trees. You can see a few in the pictures below, but I will make a proper post about them soon. And while we are talking about it: GOD also has currently a christmas sale with winter/Christmas stuff. So there are many reasons to check the store out.

Cozy 7

List of stuff:

Prefab: Scarlet Creative – Noelle Chalet Furnished
Enviroment: Garden of Dreams – parts used from “The Winter Cabin” And new Mesh Winter Trees

What I am wearing:

Sadness

Sadness 1

Yesterday I have had one of these moments – and before you run away: nope – this will not become an emo-post.

I have collected some furniture pieces I wanted to show you over the last couple of days when I heard the message that BAFFLE is having a closing sale. And actually that made me kind of sad since I loved the creations of Samantha Smadga a lot. And I really hope that she will come back soon again with maybe a complete new business. So if you like BAFFLE you better hop to the mainstore and grab as much things as you can get because everything is reduced to 55L$ and after November 15th it will be gone for good. So did I and I got myself the Le Petite Reve Skybox which is a wonderful representation of the astonishing crafting and texturing abilities of Samantha.

Trompe Loeil have just released the first Christmas items – and when I went to their store and saw the Star Light Pendant Lamps (come in 3 different sizes, copy, mod and turn on by mouseclick) I knew I had to get those. My mother has the same ones in RL and she always hangs them up around X-mas time. So it really is some kind of home feeling for me. The thing with furniture and decoration in second life is kind of interesting because the realism is nearly unbeatable anymore. And especially with these lamps I associate childhood feelings, home and parents. And yeah – I went a bit emo when I hung them up in my new appartment but honestly – this is a good thing. We are talking about a virtual world here in which you literally can do everything. And if there are some items that have that effect on you because you mishmash them with your real life experiences then it can not be a bad thing. So much for “second life is just a game”.

Sadness 2

The Small Enamel Cabinet from %Percent is another one of these pieces because my granny used to have one of these and I have all good feeling about it because the cookie jar was standing just on top of it. The club chair is also from Trompe Loeil and I blogged this one before in my post Sleepless. The art is from the current Gallery Gift Shop and comes from Chiana Oh. And the Bonsai Tree with table is from ~Hanaya~. You can change the seasons of the bonsai tree by click and it is just a wonderful piece of decoration. A non changeable bonsai tree is also available as second year anniversary November groupgift at ~Hanaya~.

Sadness 3

The Mens Dept is also a wonderful place to find furniture made with men in mind. The Angle Frames “It’s A Keeper” are the share of Cheeky Pea and the crate shelf comes from floorplan – both items are mesh and wonderful and unique pieces. The utility tables with the book and also the framed Winter Canvas are from {ililo} and also can be found in the current Mens Dept. The rug is again from BAFFLE.

Sadness 4

I decorated the bedroom of the Le Petite Reve Skybox with another bargain furniture piece from the Mens Dept. The “sorting shelf” is from Vespertine and just matches perfectly the other furniture pieces you can find at the Mens Dept. Either the bleached wood is kind of a trend right now in the furniture scene within second life or the creators have coordinated themselfes. Nevertheless – you can get this pieces all on one location and if my pictures do not show you should believe me – they are wonderful.

The “Earnst TV” is from Cheeky Pea and you can change the texture of the screen and the set by mouseclick.

My todays look is again the Corduroy Skater Trousers from 22769 ~ casual couture that can also be found at the Mens Dept. Likewise my glasses from BALACLAVA – the Kip Glasses can be found in different colors at the Mens Dept. And each set includes different options. The shirt is a new release from {MoYaz}. The shirt comes in plain options and also in the 70’s collection – and I absolutely adore these. Shown above is the “Buttoned Shirt 70’s Beige”.

And last but not least: The Barrel Bed from Trompe Loeil which can be found at the current round of FaMESHed. It matches perfectly the previous releases from Trompe Loeil and is somewhat quirky with the barrel shape and texturing. The bed is available in many different styles – shown here is Brown and Freesia.

Sadness 5

List of stuff:

Homestory

Bedroom and Bath

Happy Sunday everyone. Missed my blog post about houses and furniture? Well good news is here: you will get an overdose today. And you will only see bits and pieces of myself since the main actor indeed is the fabulous new skybox LONDON Appartment from [AF]. And since this skybox is huge (but only has a Land Impact of 58 thanks to mesh) I decided to show you room by room, making a little homestory about how I start my day.

So – obviously we begin in the bedroom (above left). I just crawled out of my snuggly bed from Scarlet Creative. The Noelle Modern Bed comes with multiple poses for single and couple usage and what I like most about it is the fact that you can actually move the poses to your needs. The books and the lamp left to the bed are also from Scarlet Creative and they show so much love for detail. The rounded shelf is from [bauwerk] and will become released soon. And the candles are a gift from Designer Prims.

So I am on my way to the bathroom. And I am wearing the Silk Flare Pants in autumn bleed which are the huntgift for the Autumn Effect Hunt from 22769 ~ casual couture. And talking about gifts. The washing table in the bath is the new Groupgift from the same store. It comes with three animations (washing hands, shaving and brushing teeth). It is the first piece of furniture I know that works with the new Linden Labs Functions like temporary attachments. Because the washing table attaches the razor or the toothbrush to your hands, but they do not clutter your inventory.

After doing my morning stuff I relax a bit in the Retro Bubble Chair (again from Scarlet Creative). And then it is time for getting dressed and a breakfast to start my day…
List of stuff:
Bed: Scarlet Creative – Noelle Modern Bed
Books (on Bed Shelf): Scarlet Creative
Lamp: Scarlet Creative – Adler Lamp
Ballchair: Scarlet Creative – Bubble Chair
Rug: Scarlet Creative – Adler Rug
Candles:  Designer Prims – Candle Set Cream
Shelf: [bauwerk] – curved shelf (soon to be released)
Art: Gabrielle Swindlehurst – Fields Of Gold – Five (for the Gallery Gift Shop)
Books: BoatHouse – Book Stack 5
Washing Table: 22769 ~ casual couture – Good Morning Gorgeous (Groupgift)
Plants: Scarlet Creative – Love Leaf Jug Plant
Pants: 22769 ~ casual couture – Silk Flared Pants autumn bleed (for the Autumn Effect Hunt)

Homestory Hallway

One of the things that really amaze me about the LONDON Appartment is the hallway and I am sure you will love it as much as I do. As you can see in the panoramic shot (the middle one) the texturing is gorgeous and not too heavy.

So – I found my denims and my jumper and are on the way to the living room and kitchen wich are downstairs. One thing about design in secondlife: there are classics within secondlife. Like furniture that was created in admiration of RL designs and I absolutely love that. But there are pieces of furniture that became already classic pieces WITHIN secondlife. And one of these rare items is for sure the Asylum Octo Lovec Chair from LISPs Bazaar. It is strange, it is quirky and it is a beautiful piece of art coming out of secondlife. Everyone needs that chair (or another one out of this series). Another wonderful piece of interior design is the Light Tree from ICONIC you can see in the middle shot in the first floor.

As you maybe know I come from Germany – and around here it is common that we a) have our wastebins in the hallway (in huge, old buildings) and especially for students like I am b) that we do not leave our bikes on the street.

List of stuff:
Chair: [bauwerk] – cube chair leather (soon to be released)
Potato: [bauwerk] – rattan sitting bag indian spice (soon to be released)
Shoes (foreground): :::GABRIEL::: – Driving Shoes Brown (Groupgift)
Boots (behind): DUH! – Brown Suede Workboots (Finding Fab Free Hunt)
Chair: LISP Bazaar – Asylum Octo Lovec Chair
Lamps: [North West] – Petite Lamps (closing sale)
Art: [bauwerk] – Vertex (soon to be released)
Tree: ICONIC – Light Tree
Wastebins: Urban Spirit – Domestic Wheelie Bins (MP Freebie)
Outfit: 22769 ~ casual couture – Autumn Outfit (for the Gallery Gift Shop)

Homestory Kitchen

My mother always said: the heart of every home is the kitchen. And wo am I to disagree. There are a lot of kitchens in secondlife, but this one is definitely my favorite. It comes from Trompe Loeil and is the current item for Collabor88. First – like everything that Trompe Loeil releases – the texturing and the overall look and feel is flawless. What really impressed me a lot was the set up of this kitchen. With the “kitchen planner” – wich is also the rezzer for the kitchen – it is so easy to move the complete furniture to the right spot. One click install – this kitchen definitely fulfills this task. Of course the kitchen comes with cute animations and of course there is a version available with NSFW animations also. The kitchen is available in green, orange, purple – and shown here teal.

Noticed the hot water maker on the kitchen? This is a gift that can be found at the Gallery Gift Shop and it is – like the whole event – way cute.

List of stuff:
Kitchen: Trompe Loeil – Timeless Kitchen (for Collabor88)
Hot Water Maker: Gift at the Gallery Gift Shop

Homestory Livingroom

Finally breakfast. I am sitting on the Adler Dining Table from Scarlet Creative – and it is way cute. First of all I love to combine rustic furniture with way modern things and second the table rezzes different meals – from breakfast to sushi – there is everything you can dream of. The Classic Fireplace also comes from Scarlet Creative and the drawers are the plain version from the last cycle of the Mens Dept. by floorplan. The skyline picture is again a gift you can get at the Gallery Gift Shop. And the lamps are a freebie from nordari.

It is time to get prepared for work. But first I rest a bit on my new won Baroque Bench Popular at the Arcade Gatcha Event. The bench – again – comes from Trompe Loeil and it is super cute and it comes with 15 different animations. My students bag – where i carry my notebook and books and all student stuff with me comes from NYU and is from L’accessoires. Look at the detailing on this bag – isn’t it wonderful? Finally the water dispenser was the huntgift from Nudolu for the Gallery Gift Shop Anniversary hunt.

Well – that was a lot! I hope I showed you enough of the fantastic LONDON Apartement by [AF] that you start drooling already. Please note that I did some minor modifications on the skybox since I removed the panorama view over London for lighting purposes.
