Little House on the Prairie

Little House 1

Hello Sunday! In todays post I will focus on enviroment and stuff that make our virtual lifes comfi and give us a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Home, sweet home. When I browsed some flickr streams I found an adorable little house as groupgift from a shop I have never heard about – which is not that hard since SL is so big. Sweet Harmony – or short [SH] – give away this way cute little home to their group members. And it is all kind of awesome. I will show you details shortly.

Little House 2

But talking about groupgifts: Behind me is the fabulous Teardrop Bed from Trompe Loeil. And – you guess it already – it is a gift to the subscriber group of Trompe Loeil. It has 4 animations (3 sleeping and one sitting) which are pretty much unisex. I already mentioned the little plants I got from the Lucky Board at Lithium. And again it is a good idea to join this group also, because Lithium has a second Lucky Board that changes every 5 minutes (instead of 30 minutes like the “regular” one).

The painting behind me is from the new Gallery Gift Shop. Again it is from Gabrielle Swindlehurst and it is called “Mountains Of The Moon”. There is one thing about living in second life that always puzzeled me: people seem to spend so much effort for finding the fitting furniture and skyboxes but seem to forget about art. And in my opinion some stunning piece of art makes some plain four walls something like a home. So having that in mind you simply have to go to the Gallery Gift Shop. First you find stunning artworks there and second the pieces are definitely not overpriced – and they also change with every rotation. Just like the other items you can find there.

One word about the outfit I am wearing today: The loose shirt is from NYU and it has absolutely convincing folds and looks just too real to me. The bermuda shorts are from the Mens Dept. – and guys HURRY UP! The August round is closing shortly. The shorts are from 22769 and I especially like the realism and the texturing of those.

But coming back to the house as promised above. You see the pop art painting in my back? Yes – this wall art is part of the whole house – and it gives the whole building such a nice and joyful contrast, especially with the red wall and the curtains which are also a part of the house. The texturing is more then reasonable and there are a billion reasons why you should get this group gift – for me it was definitely when I saw the pop art faces.

The lights above me are from CIRCA and are usually outdoor dandelion lights – but well… for me they work indoor also. The dandelion lights come in 4 sizes from S to XL and they are copy. Shown here is size M. And the chair is also from Trompe Loeil and is the gift in the Homestuff Hunt.

And some final words on the scenery: it is again from Garden Of Dreams. The dreamscene “The Field” is probably the most functionable skydome for people who are just looking for some place to live. Because it basically is – a field. You can do it like I did and put a house inside and you have the perfect enviroment that will definitely stun all your friends. And since the dreamscenes from Garden Of Dreams are also as permanent skyboxes in the package you simply have no reason to live in dull four walls with nothing outside.

Historical Ass

There are some things you definitely expect at the Vintage Fair – like clothing from the 50s, 60s or 70s, furniture from these times, and many other neat stuff also. There are a few things you might not expect at the fair and the Bryant Suit from A:S:S is one of these things. You can debate if this is really vintage or if it is rather historical clothing. But fact is “vintage” means “from a certain decade” – and with this definition the suit and the tricorn (there are 4 different in the package – shown here is the light teal one) matches the fair perfectly. The suit has neat little details in the texturing. And there are a lot of layers in the package – so you can give your outfit a unique look.

It is no secret that I fell in love with the Dreamscenes from Garden Of Dreams. They just make the perfect set for fotoshootings and yet they are so much more. The one I took the pictures in is called “The Dining Room” and it is like if you enter with one mouseclick a medieval lounge with dinner table, separees and of course a fireplace. Want to have your own “Game Of Thrones” Skybox? Want to feel like a Tudor? The Dining Room fulfills all that expectations. The seats on the table come with many poses, the separees have couple poses and of course you can turn the fire on and off. It is a brilliant skybox to have a themed party or to live within. Like all creations of Garden Of Dreams it is special and definitely something to impress. Also: The Dining Room is mod – so you can alter the skybox to your needs and you can not ask for more… All in all the skybox is 295 prims – but it is furnished and if you want to give it your personal touch you can erase of course the large table and put a bed inside. This is, next to the excellent texturing and the love for detail the biggest asset of Garden Of Dreams: the creations are multi funktional.

The Way of the Sword

When I was at Sadistic Hacker to buy me some hair I stumbeled over tis brilliant pack of Katana Poses which is offered there as free Groupgift. I always wanted to use them, but never found an opportunity to do so. But with the Silk Road Hunt finally my chance came. I found this wonderful kimono at Kisetsu Kabuki and things came together naturally. The Katana is a freebie from the marketplace – link posted on the bottom as usual.

The Silk Road Hunt is in Half Time now – so you have plenty of time to go on the trial. The hunt is fun and most of the time enjoyable. A bit of a downer are stores that still are not ready yet, but there are many brilliant gifts to find and many wonderful places to explore.

A foggy day in London Town

Today is the day! As I am writing this blogentry CULTURE SHOCK is finally open to the public. And while my bestie Mondra Kira is showing you all the wonderful dresses and womenfashion you can find there it is my turn and pleasure to show you the finds for the gentleman.

A:S:S is taking part at Culture Shock with their subbrands A:S:S Decades and A:S:S Deluxe. While the Deluxe line is kind of edgy jewellery the Decades brand is pretty conventional – when you are living in the 18th century. The above shown “Etienne Outfit” is the donation item from A:S:S and it is rich on textures and details. The outfit comes in an overwhelming variety and includes the shirt, the vest, the breeches the socks and of course the tricorn. You find wonderful ornaments on the buttons and all in all you can say that the creator is way dedicated to it.

The Chevaliere Ring is also a donation item from A:S:S Decades. it comes with 5 different ornaments (shown above is the “Feather” one) and with a texture change HUD that allows you to change the color of the gems. And finally the Cravat-Pin (shown below) can also become purchased seperately and is – again – a donation item for Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders).

Conclusion: It is a very decent outfit which works brilliant for historical roleplay or as an eye-catcher when you combine it with some casual clothing.

Indian Spring

Indian Spring 1

One thing I love about second life is that our virtual world is a melting pot of different kind of cultures and styles. Every cuture is just a teleport away – and the same goes for clothing and accessories. It is no secret that I like asian inspired creations – may it be from asian designers or designers who craft something asian inspired. Maybe it is because I am european and see contemporary western fashion all day when I go to the university, grocery shopping or simply for a walk.

When I opened the new groupgift from 22769 ~ casual couture yesterday I had one of those moments: The old denims with the bleeding are great, but it was the silk shirt that catched my attention. I like the collar and the subtile indian pattern a lot. It reminds me of a Kurta and yet it looks very casual. I added the Orn Necklace from PIXLIGHTS FACTORY to the overall look. And the hair is from Sadistic Hacker and it is more traditional japanese. It is a cultur mishmash, but for me it works brilliant.
